PageOne are pleased to announce the launch of an open source Moodle module to allow Moodle VLE users access to the JANET txt messaging service.
PageOne have developed the new plug-in called ‘MoodleMobile’, in conjunction with Kidderminster College. It allows users to send text messages directly within Moodle using PageOne’s JANET txt messaging service.
The MoodleMobile plug-in allows you to send a message to any of your existing contact groups, enabling a large number of people to be contacted simultaneously. Users simply select a message recipient from their existing contact list, enter the message, and click ’send’. Messages can be sent to as many or as few people as required.
With no ongoing monthly cost and only a small set up charge of £25 to enable your JANET txt account, MoodleMobile is a great way to integrate text messaging into your institution. Simply contact PageOne to enable your account and then download the MoodleMobile plug-in.
What to do next…
Step 1
Ensure you have a JANETt txt master agreement and text messages.
Step 2
Contact the JANET txt team to enable your Janet txt account with MoodleMobile. This email address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it or call 0844 822 5100 to enable your account.
Simply add a 2-way virtual number to your JANET txt acount to allow recipients to reply to messages sent from MoodleMobile. Users can view text message replies in the new SMS inbox.
