			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>A survey undertaken by TechSmith indicates that mobile devices and lesson capture software will be the most sought after technologies in 2011.</p>
<p>Canvassing the views of educators and ICT co-ordinators, TechSmith found that 27% have lesson capture software at the top of their ICT wishlists for 2011, with mobile devices, tablets and smartphones ranking as the second most popular technologies to be purchased. Interactive whiteboards, laptops and subject specific software packages followed in popularity, each receiving 12% of the responses</p>

<p>According to a survey carried out by Naace, Intellect, TeachFirst and RM, and designed to discover how education professionals view the use and importance of ITC in education, teachers, school leaders and local authority advisors expect personal devices used by pupils to become fully incorporated into lessons in future.</p>

In response to the requirements of the JANET community, JANET(UK) procured a Short Messaging Service, JANET txt, in April 2007. The service is specifically for use within the education and research sector and was procured to meet their particular requirements. </p>
<p>The current contract for JANET txt expires in April 2010. JANET(UK) wishes to continue the JANET txt service. This procurement is to appoint a single supplier to provide such a service for up to a further four years, starting in May 2010 subject to mutual agreement.</p>

Researchers say text language uses word play and requires an awareness of how sounds relate to written English. This link between texting and literacy has proved a surprise, say researchers. These latest findings of an ongoing study at the University of Coventry contradict any expectation that prolonged exposure to texting will erode a child’s ability to spell. </p>
